Word frequency counter is an online tool which shows how often every word appears in a text. The result is a neat table of words and their counts - useful for writing, editing and content analysis.
The usage of this online tool is super easy. Just place the text which should be analysed into the input textarea. By default the counter ignores case, so "The" and "the" are counted as one word - untick the option in more input options when the distinction matters. You can also sort the table alphabetically instead of by frequency. Next, click on Count word frequency button. Finally, you can see the word table in the output textarea - the most used words are listed first.
How does the counting work?
The text is split at whitespace and common punctuation around each word is stripped away. Every remaining word is counted and the table is sorted, most frequent first by default.
A frequency table is a quick health check for any text: it reveals filler words you repeat too often, shows the topical terms of an article and helps with language learning. It pairs nicely with the word counter - one measures the length, this one measures the content.
