UUID generator is an online tool which creates random version 4 Universally Unique Identifiers. Generate as many collision-resistant IDs as you need for databases, tickets or test data.
The usage of this online tool is super easy. Set how many identifiers you need - between 1 and 100. Optionally tick uppercase letters in more input options. Next, click on Generate UUIDs button. Finally, you can see your identifiers in the output textarea, one per line.
How does a version 4 UUID look like?
A UUID v4 has the form 8-4-4-4-12, for example 7d444840-9dc0-11d1-b245-5ffdce74fad2. 122 of its 128 bits are filled with randomness from a cryptographic random generator; the remaining bits carry the version number (4) and the variant. With that much entropy, two generated identifiers colliding is practically impossible.
UUIDs shine when records are created before they reach a central database - each system can mint its own unique keys without coordination. They are not secret though: never use a UUID as a password or access token on its own.
